Kacey Musgraves' Performs on NBC's TODAY, New Album Out Now @ Automotive World

Mercury Nashville singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves celebrated the release of her debut album Same Trailer Different Park, with a performance of the single, "Merry Go 'Round," this morning on NBC's TODAY. The anticipated album by the 24-year old is co-produced by Musgraves, Shane McAnally and Luke Laird. Kacey co-wrote all tracks on the album, which is available now on iTunes.

This past Sunday, Kacey was the subject of a four-page profile titled “With A Rebel Twang” in the highly regarded New York Times Magazine. Rolling Stone gave Kacey’s debut outing a glowing 4 out of 4 Star review and labeled her as an “Artist To Watch.” The iconic music magazine says, “Same Trailer Different Park proves Musgraves is for real,” adding, “the album showcases a songwriting voice you won’t hear anywhere else in pop: young, female, downwardly mobile, fiercely witty.”

Entertainment Weekly gave the album a grade A- review and touted, “On her confident, melodic major-label debut, Musgraves' vocals are pleasingly agile, but what Same Trailer Different Park continually showcases is her writing prowess." And the Washington Post exclaimed, “Her magnificent new album contains some of the most straightforward storytelling you could ever ask of a dozen country tunes. No bells, no whistles, no throwaway lyrics — just 12 pithy singalongs, often beautiful, sometimes brilliant.”

Kacey will attend the 48th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards held in Las Vegas on April 7, where she holds three nominations; nominations include FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR and VIDEO OF THE YEAR (Artist & Producer). She had previously received a nomination for New Female Vocalist.

Catch Kacey on the road this summer with Kenny Chesney on the No Shoes Nation stadium tour which began this past weekend in Tampa, FL. For a full list of tour dates please visit www.kaceymusgraves.com.

Review Tuesday: Kacey Musgraves - Same Trailer Different Park @ Automotive World

It's not often that I have the chance to listen to a record before it comes out, so when I was offered Same Trailer Different Park by Kacey Musgraves, I gave it a shot.

This is a country pop record so it should be palatable to about anyone. It's not too country to make you want to kill yourself, and not too pop enough to hate yourself. It's sweet, pleasant and refined.

The tracklist:
1. Silver Lining 3:50
2. My House 2:40
3. Merry Go 'Round 3:26
4. Dandelion 3:02
5. Blowin' Smoke 3:08
6. I Miss You 3:50
7. Step Off 3:02
8. Back On The Map 4:06
9. Keep It To Yourself 3:16
10. Stupid 2:37
11. Follow Your Arrow 3:19
12. It Is What It Is 3:46
I'm pretty sure that track 7, Step Off is used in a commercial, because you have that instant recognition of the vocals and cheerful tune. The rest of it is pretty upbeat and cheerful. Maybe even fun. Kacey's voice is very pretty, and she hits all the right notes. The instrumentation is perfect accompaniment, as each song is more like a track by track basis, not a band slogging it out for album time. At one point I thought, awful lot of banjo on this, but it wasn't too much, it was just right.

The production is clean and smooth. The songs are pretty. If you like Taylor Swift's voice, you should appreciate this record.

It's out TODAY! Find it on Amazon dot com.

Jaida Dreyer Streams New Single Half Broke Horses @ Automotive World

Country singer-songwriter and Streamsound Records recording artist Jaida Dreyer is set to release her debut album, I Am Jaida Dreyer, on February 26th. The album will be available on all major digital retailers, including iTunes and Amazon. The single, "Half Broke Horses," is streaming now on Jaida's YouTube.

The breakout release features 10 original songs written or co-written by the singer and is produced by Grammy award-winning record producer Byron Gallimore (Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Sugarland). The album features a special guest appearance by Sugarland’s Kristian Bush on the track, “Boy Who Cried Love,” which she also co-wrote.

“Jaida’s music is so personal and authentic,” said Gallimore. “Not only is Jaida a great performer, but she is also a gifted writer and musician. Her charisma and soul completely shine right through on this album.”

Dreyer added, "I'm overwhelmed by the love and space I've been given to make my art. This record is a collection of different moments in my life. I hope people connect with the songs and recognize moments of their own life in them.

The Canadian-born songstress has been writing for Gallimore’s publishing division for almost 5 years. Her current single “Half Broke Horses” is at country radio now and scheduled for impact February 19th. The song, a very personal autobiographical flashback from Dreyer’s childhood, explores loss and change with a heartfelt equestrian metaphor, one which the talented horse rider turned musician is well acquainted with. The single was co-written with Brad and Brett Warren and Lance Miller.

The rising star broke onto the Hot Country charts last year, which lead to her first appearance on the historic Grand Ole Opry. The singer-songwriter also embarked on an extended radio promotion tour that stretched as far north as Canada.

Dreyer was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario, and raised in Latimer, Iowa, where the population sign still reads 303. Before she turned 18, She had lived in seven states, with the bulk of her time spent between Texas and Georgia. From an early age, she embraced an on-the-go lifestyle, donning her “gypsy boots” and setting out with her mother across the country wherever equine work took them, eventually, living in a car before being taken in by a rock band. This single event would reignite her creative fire to pursue guitar. “The lead singer taught me to play 3 chords. From there, I was hooked.”

She credits her eclectic taste in music to her mother, who introduced her to classic artists like Kitty Wells and Hank Williams, Sr., as well as then-current hitmakers like Tanya Tucker, Keith Whitley, and Patty Loveless. As a pre-teen, Dreyer also found herself drawn to a variety of singer-songwriters like Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard, Lyle Lovett, and Steve Earle.
