Rey Mysterio's real name is Oscar Gutierrez and he was born on December 11, 1974. He was born in San Diego, California. Rey Mysterio was trained by his uncle Rey Misterio Sr. and made his professional debut in 1989 as Colibri (means Hummingbird in Spanish) in the lucha libre. He first wrestled in Mexico and went upwards to the USA.

Mysterio currently lives in San Diego, California. He has a gated house but in his interview, sometimes the gate is not closed(annoyed). When his wife and him were thinking about building his new house, Mysterio said to his wife " Let me take care of the outside." So outside, he created the backyard and the backyard has a waterslide, pool that holds 1,200 gallons of water and a jacuzzi. Mysterio has a family. He has a wife named Angelica a.k.a Angie. He has one son named Dominik and one daughter named Aalyah. He also has a dog named Rocky
