Morgan Rhodes lives in Ontario, Canada. As a child, she always wanted to be a princess -- the kind that knows how to wield a sharp sword to help save both kingdoms and princes from fire-breathing dragons and dark wizards. Instead, she became a writer, which is just as good and much less dangerous. Along with writing, Morgan enjoys photography, travel, reality TV, and is an extremely picky, yet voracious reader of all kinds of books. Under another pen name, she’s a national bestselling author of many paranormal novels. Falling Kingdoms is her first high fantasy.
Interview
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Because you will be (virtually) swept away to an exciting world of intrigue, adventure, magic, and romance!
Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
When I received an email from a reader who said my books helped her get through her cancer treatment.
What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
I was in love with the Adventure series by Enid Blyton.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
A jewel thief. I’d seen a movie about a female thief and she looked so glamorous in her black catsuit. I did not pursue this line of work, thankfully.
If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to play the lead role and why?
Christina Applegate, since she’s funny and blonde and I’m under the deep delusion that from some angles I look a little like her.
What movie and/or book are you looking forward to this year?
I’m dying to read The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead.
How do you react to a bad review?
I’m a self-described delicate flower, so I try not to read them. If I do: wine and chocolate help.
If you were a super hero what would your kryptonite be?
Bad reviews.
If you could have a signed copy of any novel what would it be and why?
I would love a signed first edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling.
What do you do in your free time?
I watch mind-numbing reality television.
Do you prefer to write in silence or with music?
I need absolute silence since I’m easily distracted.
What's your biggest challenge as a writer? How did you overcome it, or how are you working to overcome it?
Self doubt. It doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so I just try to ignore it and push on anyway.
Character most like you in someone else's book?
I identify greatly with Bridget Jones – in good ways and bad. ;)
I identify greatly with Bridget Jones – in good ways and bad. ;)
How many books are in your TRB pile?
A million (approximately).
What is next on your to read list?
I’m currently in the middle of reading Beth Revis’s amazing Across the Universe trilogy.
What is the last thing you bought?
A red cover for my iPad.
Fanfiction - Love it or Hate it? Have your ever written it?
I don’t love or hate it – I don’t read it. However, there was a time that I wrote Buffy fan fic – it helped me develop my writing voice and gave me confidence to write my own characters and stories.
Are you for or against books being made into movies?
For! Provided that the producer and screenwriter try very hard to keep the spirit of the book and not change things completely.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
In a land where magic has been forgotten but peace has reigned for centuries, a deadly unrest is simmering. Three kingdoms grapple for power—brutally transforming their subjects’ lives in the process. Amidst betrayals, bargains, and battles, four young people find their fates forever intertwined:
Cleo: A princess raised in luxury must embark on a rough and treacherous journey into enemy territory in search of a magic long thought extinct.
Jonas: Enraged at injustice, a rebel lashes out against the forces of oppression that have kept his country impoverished—and finds himself the leader of a people’s revolution centuries in the making.
Lucia: A girl adopted at birth into a royal family discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield.
Magnus: Bred for aggression and trained to conquer, a firstborn son begins to realize that the heart can be more lethal than the sword...
The only outcome that’s certain is that kingdoms will fall. Who will emerge triumphant when all they know has collapsed?
