Cars Wallpaper Biography
Jaguar formed in the summer of 1998 by six people with a mutual interest in playing 70's funk, soul, latin and jazz. At first the programme consisted mostly of instrumental covers by James Brown, Kool and the Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Herbie Hancock and others, but original work developed rapidly. Two instrumental albums later JagĂșar have now added vocal work to the music and are regular guest at clubs in the UK and around Europe. The band played their debut gig at Jazz Cafe in London February 2003. The gig was sold out and the audience reaction has given the promoter reason to bring them back twice more with the same success. Further more this led to the release of a 12” in the UK which has been critically acclaimed:
"Wild disco funk with a slight retro allure" (Blues & Soul Magazine)
"One of the best funk records I have heard this year is "Battle of Funk" by Jaguar" Keb Darge, Kay-Dee Records
"Super tight, super heavy" Kenny Dope, Masters at Work
"The Jaguar 12" has been at the front of my box for the past few months" Snowboy, Chili Funk Records / Grand Slam Magazine
" The best track on here is "Sumargyojan" which starts off nice and mellow and then PWOARHH kicks in and rocks it half way through" Mad Mats, Raw Fusion Recordings
"Iceland's Blaxpolitation style funk combo's fine debut release" Time Out Magazine, London
"Wild disco funk with a slight retro allure" Blues & Soul Magazine
"Proof that there is more to Iceland than just Bjork...... Jaguar are funk music with a message" Dazed and Confused
